A simplistic approach to a single edged Japanese pocket knife. Most men in Japan carry a small knife daily and use it as an utensil, therefore this piece is designed for functionality.

Iitako is a single edge Japanese style pocket knife, designed for every day use. In Japan it is natural for males, ranging from kids to elderly, to carry a small knife. They use it for every day usage, as opening packaging or cutting an apple. The black and white circle on the blade communicates where to pull out the blade.

The body is made of a single piece of 2,5 mm folded sheet metal.  The packaging reflects the simplistic nature of the knife, being a matte black box with a shiny folded out knife printed on top.
